SKILLS
Technical Abilities
l Both live and recorded sound are strong skills. As an AV engineer I have experience of both small and large PA set ups for conferences, product launches and Awards Galas and skills in modern digital signal processing and editing technologies. I have engineered many bands whilst freelancing at the Walkabout pub. These skills were also used at the Edinburgh Film Festival where I took part in the production of the highest profile events.
l I have experience in many formats of digital and analogue video and have used my skills in complex video projection rigs for the Edinburgh Film Festival and Audos. I also gained live television experience during my time at university, directing a 15 min programme. I have used digital editing software whilst working as post production sound designer on an award winning short film ( ‘Virus’, Simple Films 2002) and also have linear editing experience using a Sony equipped studio.
l I am familiar with many types of lighting technology including moving heads and use of the Martin Light Jockey computer programme. I have programmed shows for events such as award ceremonies and live bands and used lighting in a TV studio environment.
l A strong ability to grasp new technologies has helped me succeed in work and on my course. I have used these skills to develop an understanding of new equipment quickly.
l I have experience of ENG and Live camera work through production of short News clips at conferences and for college.
Teamworking and Leadership
l The implementation and development of ideas and solutions has been an important part of all my jobs to date. In my current post, I work as part of a successful team, creating events such as conferences for the DTI and high profile product launches for various companies.
l I am involved in the design of events, in both the event management and implementation sides of the company.
l At the Edinburgh Film Festival, I worked with a team to use limited resources to their best and helped to make the technical team surpass levels of efficiency seen in previous years.
l I am a confident and accomplished speaker and enjoy good communication skills at both personal and work level.
l The conference environment has allowed me to develop excellent customer service skills and I have good experience of providing solutions that suit the needs of both client and reality!
l I have an excellent telephone manner which I have used extensively in communications with suppliers, clients and colleagues on a day to day basis at work.
Creativity
l As sound designer and editor on the highly successful short film ‘Virus’, I relied strongly on my creative skills to build atmosphere on the soundtrack to the dialogue free horror film.
l Photography is a keen interest and I have photographs published as part of publicity material for the Lowry gallery.
l I have managed bands and had considerable success in publicity and organisation of a band in Edinburgh. I have also photographed bands for promotional material, particularly Descarga, a Salsa band from Manchester. My photographs can be seen at www.descarga.co.uk.
l I am an accomplished musician having achieved ABRSM grade 8 on the Euphonium and have performed at the National Festival Hall and the Albert Hall as part of the national festival of music for youth.

Interests
I am a keen mountain biker and enjoy nothing more
than being up to my ears in mud! I lived in the Peak District for 12 years so
any activity that gets me into the hills is welcome and I climb, walk and camp
whenever possible.
Music is an important part of
my life and I relish listening to many types, both live and recorded.
I also like to watch films on a regular basis and particularly enjoy
world cinema and independent films.
